Big weekend in Bishop this week. The 41st annual Blake Jones Trout Derby is taking place. Fishermen from all over the state, and in fact the country, will descend on Bishop, CA to fish the Owens River and Pleasant Valley Reservoir on Saturday. Rancho Seco Recreational Area will be stocked with 1,500 pounds of trout for a fishing derby this weekend, according to a news release from the Sacramento Municipal Utility District. What you may not know is UC Davis showed it had some top-ranked anglers following a weekend win of the first National Guard FLW College Fishing Western Division tournament on Clear Lake Saturday. Abderholden: This weekend kicks off the annual Spring Fishing Classic, which runs through March 15 at Bass Pro Shop in Gurnee Mills. I always liked the Kids Fishing Pond outside the store that is usually run by a local fishing group.
